Joseph Perlman, MD

Dr. Joseph Perlman is a leading Houston liposuction doctor who earned his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University and his M.D. from Brown University Medical School. After completing surgical residencies at Baylor College of Medicine, he went on to do fellowships in Hand Surgery and Microsurgery, acquiring experience that he now uses to perform reconstructive procedures of the hands and breasts.

Dr. Perlman is board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) and the American Board of Surgery (ABS). He also holds a certificate of added qualifications in hand surgery. Joseph Perlman is a member of the prestigious American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) and of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). ABPS-certified plastic surgeons are specially qualified to perform surgery on the face and all areas of the body after completing at least five years of surgical training following medical school, including an accredited plastic surgery residency program.

In addition to having an extensive cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery practice, Dr. Perlman also treats a significant number of hand injuries and related problems. He has served as an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Plastic Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine and has been a consultant to Ben Taub Hospital in hand surgery.

Dr. Joseph Perlman is a member of the American Society of Bariatric Plastic Surgeons, which is dedicated to exploring surgical problems associated with massive weight loss after gastric bypass, gastric banding and dieting. With one of the largest liposuction practices in the Houston area, Dr. Perlman has 30 years of experience in traditional liposuction and nearly 20 in the newer enhanced liposuction techniques. He is frequently called upon as a trainer for Smart Lipo, VASER and other ultrasonic and laser liposuction methods.

He attends and presents at numerous professional conferences dedicated to new and proven techniques in plastic surgery. As a highly respected member of the Houston medical community, he has served in the past as Chairman of Houston NW Chamber of Commerce Community Health Committee; Women Helping Women Board of Directors; and Helping Hand Foundation Chairman. He also serves on the Breast Cancer Advisory Committee of Houston NW Medical Center. Additionally, his professional interest in sports medicine has earned him the designation of team physician for the U.S.A. Boxing Team since 1980 and U.S. physician for the 1987 Pam Am Games. He also has the distinction of being a member of the 1988 U.S. Olympic Team as one of five physicians chosen from over 400 applicants to care for the entire team and staff during the Summer Games in Seoul, Korea. He served as the Medical Consultant for Houston 2012 Olympic Games bid.
